Homekit
The Danalock V3 HomeKit version is originally designed specifically for use with Apple Home. By default, it can only be added through the Apple Home app and is intended for control by iOS users.
To add the lock in the Apple Home app, you will need to insert the HomeKit code for the Danalock V3. The HomeKit code can be found on a small white sticker inside the battery cover.
If the HomeKit code is lost, the lock will need to be reprogrammed to generate a new code.

Dual-Mode Firmware
In March 2023, we introduced the Dual-Mode firmware (version 2.7.5) for the Danalock V3 HomeKit. With this firmware installed, you can:
Add the lock to your Danalock account using the Danalock app.
Invite users to use the lock in the Danalock app.
Pair the lock with the Danapad and Danabridge.
Allow Android users to operate the lock.
How to Update to Dual-Mode Firmware
You can update the Danalock V3 HomeKit to the Dual-Mode firmware (2.7.5) in two ways:
With the Danalock Toolbox app
If the lock is already added in the Apple Home app, you can update it using the Danalock Toolbox app.
- Download the Danalock Toolbox app and select HomeKit and press on the serial number of your lock.
Once the update is complete, you will need to remove the lock from the Home app.
Important: Make sure you have the HomeKit code for your lock. You'll need it to re-add the lock to Apple Home.
With the nRf Device Firmware Update app
Before you will be able to update the lock in the nRF app, you need to put the lock in DFU mode. You can put the lock in DFU by following these steps:
Remove one battery from the lock.
Insert a pin into the small hole behind the LED and hold it there while reinserting the battery.
The lock should display a steady red light.
Once the lock is in DFU mode, you can update the lock:
Download the nRf Device Firmware Update app
Download the Dual-mode Firmware file (2.7.5) from the Firmware page.
Open the nRF Device Firmware Update app.
Locate the firmware file (version 2.7.5).
Find the Danalock device - it should appear as DFU or DanaDFU.
Press Upload to start the update.
When the update is complete, the lock will reboot.
You'll see a short white LED blink, after which the LED will turn off.
After updating
If you want to use the lock in the Danalock app:
- Add the lock via Bluetooth to your Danalock account in the Danalock app.
- Once added, you can re-add it in the Home app.
If you only want to use the lock in your Apple Home setup:
- Add the lock directly in the Home app.
Enable Dual-Mode
If you've added the lock to the Home app but later want to use it in the Danalock app as well, you can enable Bluetooth by doing the following:
On an iPhone with access to the lock in the Home app, open the Danalock Toolbox app
Press HomeKit > select your lock > press Enable Dual Mode.
You now have 60 seconds to open the Danalock app > Menu > Add new device.
Press on the lock's serial number (it's located on the inside of the battery cover).
Once added, the lock can be used in both the Danalock app and Apple Home setup.
