Zigbee

The Danalock V3 BTZB/BTZBE (Zigbee) version can be used in the Danalock app, with a smart hub, or with both at the same time.

If you want to use your Danalock V3 BTZB/BTZBE both in the Danalock app and with a Zigbee compatible smart hub, it's important to add the lock in the Danalock app first.

Different versions

There are two versions of the Danalock V3 Zigbee:

Danalock V3 BTZB: The older version, built with Zigbee 1.2 (production date before 2020).

Danalock V3 BTZBE: The newer version, built with Zigbee 3.0 (production date after 2021).

The main difference between the two versions is whether the Zigbee module in the lock can be updated. In the BTZB version, the Zigbee module can't be updated.

If you're not sure which version you have, you can send a photo of your lock's serial number to our support team at danalocksupport@saltosystems.com. They will be able to confirm whether you have a Danalock V3 BTZB or BTZBE. You can find information about how to located the serial number in General information.

Inclusion

Below you can find a step-by-step guide on how to include your Danalock V3 Zigbee to a Zigbee compatible smart hub:

  1. Set your smart hub in inclusion mode.

  2. Press the pinhole button on the lock once while keeping it close to the hub.

  3. After the click, the lock will flash green for either 4 or 30 seconds, depending on the version of your Zigbee lock (BTZBE or BTZB), as the inclusion process begins. The lock will then flash white for up to 2 minutes. Wait until the process is complete.

Once the lock has been included, you can control it through your hub.

If you don't know how to set your smart hub in inclusion mode, check the hub's manual.

Exclusion

To exclude the Zigbee lock from the hub:

  1. Press the pinhole button on the lock 9 times.

  2. The lock will flash green several times, followed by a single red flash to confirm the exclusion.

  3. After the exclusion, you'll also need to delete the lock manually from your hub.

App-less pairing

If you have a Danapad as well and want to set PIN codes via your smart hub, you can make an app-less pairing of the Danalock and the Danapad. You can find further information and detailed instructions on how to make the pairing in the App-less pairing guide.

Updating the Zigbee Module

If you have a Danalock V3 BTZBE, you will be able to update the Zigbee module in your lock. Check out the section above to find information about the two different versions.

The lock includes both main module and Zigbee module firmware. This guide explains how to update the Zigbee firmware. Find the guide on how to update the main module firmware in General information.

There are two ways to update the firmware of your lock's Zigbee module:

  • Through your smart hub*.

  • By using the Danalock Device Firmware Updater on a Windows computer.

*This feature is not supported by all smart hubs. Check your hub manufacturer's guide for details.

How to update through a smart hub

On some Zigbee hubs, you can upload the .OTA firmware file to update the lock.

With this method, the lock can be updated while it remains included to your Zigbee network.

You'll need to download the: .OTA file Descargar

Once you have downloaded the file, you can upload it to your smart hub.

Please note that the update process takes about 30—45 minutes and will consume some battery power.

How to update via the Danalock Device Firmware Updater

This method requires a Windows PC with built-in Bluetooth or a Bluetooth USB dongle. The update takes about 15—20 minutes and will use some battery power during the process.

Check the following before updating the lock:

  • The lock must be added to a Danalock account to allow access to the Zigbee module. Check the app guide for information about how to add the lock to your account in the Danalock app.

  • The main module must be updated to firmware version 0.26.0 or higher.

  • If your lock is connected to a Zigbee hub, it must be removed from the Zigbee network before enrolling it in the Danalock app. Find information on how to remove the lock from the Zigbee network in the Exclusion guide.

  • Make sure that the lock has full battery as the update process will drain some power.

Once all the above requirements are met, start the update process by following the steps below:

  1. Download: Danalock Device Firmware Updater Descargar

  2. Unpack the Zip file you downloaded. Once unzipped, run the program.

If you see a Windows protection alert, click Run anyway to continue. You may then see two prompts asking to install or update .NET. Click Yes and follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it. Continue running the program until no further alerts appear.

  1. When the program starts, click Scan to find your lock on the list.

  2. Click on the serial number of your lock to select it.

  3. Insert your Danalock credentials and click Update.

  4. The update will begin with an initialization phase, which takes some seconds, before the actual update starts. The full update process takes about 15—20 minutes.

  5. Once the update is complete, you can add your lock to your Zigbee network again.

Should you encounter any issues during the update, first ensure that all the requirements above are met.

If the problem persists, contact our support team at danalocksupport@saltosystems.com and include detailed information about the issue. For errors shown in the Danalock Device Firmware Updater, please attach a screenshot.
