Introducción
This section refers to updating the firmware of a device such as an electronic lock or a gateway in Salto Nebula.
¿Qué es el firmware?
El firmware es el software que está programado en la ROM (memoria de solo lectura) de dispositivos de hardware, tales como las cerraduras electrónicas o gateways.
¿Por qué tengo que actualizar el firmware?

How often do I need to update my firmware?
Salto provides automatic firmware updates when new functionality is available or when we fix a software bug. Recomendamos que utilices siempre las últimas versiones de firmware con Nebula.
Cómo actualizar el firmware
For devices like electronic locks, gateways, controllers, and more, firmware updates are automatically detected during the configuration process, if they're required.
Example of updating firmware
- To update a device's firmware enter the Devices section of the app. The app automatically scans for nearby devices.
- Select the device that requires a firmware update from the list of nearby devices.
- Select the Configure option.
- Hold your phone close to the device.

A firmware update can take up to 4 or 5 minutes to complete depending on the model of your phone.
During the update process, the screen displays both the current firmware version and the new version being installed. The firmware reference number is also shown on screen along with a progress bar.
In some cases, your device may require multiple firmware updates. This means that following a firmware update, the app checks to see if further updates are needed before applying them.
These updates are applied one at a time and the progress of each update is indicated on screen. Please wait until all firmware updates are completed and do not navigate away from the app while a firmware update is in progress.

Updating firmware from the web application
You can also use the Homelok web application to update the firmware of gateway devices, like the IQ3.
This option is currently only available for gateways.
To update the firmware of a gateway from the web application use the Update firmware button on the device's detail page.
