Space release notes v6.8

New features

Multiple dongle encoders supported

To obtain benefits such as faster generation of binary content for keys (for example, JustIN Mobile keys) when concurrency is high and having backup options, it is possible to declare multiple dongle encoders in the Space database.

The Dongle encoder panel has been removed from the Devices tab in General options and the Enable dongle mode has been added to the Encoders options panel included in the encoder information screen shown when you are adding an encoder.

Alarm engine and webhook leveraged to support hotel operations

The alarm engine supports a new type of trigger concerning hotel operations (check-in, check-out, copy, etc.). Actions in the form of webhook notifications may convey data concerning hotel operations.

Expired permissions automatically removed from the Space database

Access permissions within both the cardholder profiles and the access level profiles that have expired for a certain period of time will be automatically removed.

See Users, Visitors, Guests and their corresponding sections on access levels for more information.

GPF fields included in the printed audit trail report

It is possible to include general purpose fields information when printing out audit trail.

See Audit trail in Space for more information.

User Ext ID field has been enlarged to 128 characters

The Ext ID field within the user entity has been enlarged from 32 to 128 characters.

See Configuring users for more information on this field.

New SAM settings customised for Gantner dual cards

A new Gantner format is now available in the SAM & issuing data screen for the Desfire technology.

See Configuring DESFire keys settings in Space for more details.

Spaxx connector: key synchronisation based on an in-memory ID

Synchronization of cards through the Space-Relaxx connector (Spaxx) can be based not only on the card's UID (serial number) but also on a code number located in the card's memory.

See User identification set up for more information.

SHIP: new commands for allowing card update from Gantner terminals

The SHIP protocol includes a new command to make it possible for Gantner terminals to request an updated memory image for the presented Desfire key and write it on the key.

This new SHIP command saves audit trail events to the Space database before they are overwritten.

Latest firmware version of the NCoder is required.

Filtering feature enhanced in UI tables containing date/time columns

For example, you can now set a filter criterion in the Users screen table to show only users that never expire or whose key never expires. Sorting of rows based on the expiration date is now more consistent.

Online Gantner lockers: key identification based on in-memory code

Previous Space versions, the serial number (UID) of cards has been used by Space to identify keys being used at Gantner lockers. From Space v6.8, keys could be identified at Gantner lockers based not only on the card's UID but also on a code number located in the card's memory. New setting Key UID type added in General options > Access points to select the key identification type to be used in Gantner lockers.

See GAT Net locker for more details.

3G locks and devices firmware update to a later release (2023)

With previous Space versions, the firmware of 3G locks and network devices could not be updated from a version prior to major release to a later release, they should be firstly updated to an intermediate version. This has been modified and 3G locks and network devices can be now upgraded from a version prior to major release (2022) to a later release (2023-24).
