Salto KS Keychain NFC FAQs
What is NFC opening for Android users?
The Salto KS and Salto KS Keychain Mobile Apps offer NFC technology for Digital Key, available in beta for Android.
The Salto KS Keychain app has NFC openings enabled by default. Android users can tap their phones to the lock without opening their app or tapping on their widget, and the Digital Key will activate via NFC technology to unlock the door.
An NFC opening saves even more time opening doors as you don't need to open the app or swipe to find your widget.
Which types of Salto locks are compatible with Digital Key via NFC?
Not all locks are compatible with NFC. If a lock is NFC-enabled, this means it has a built-in NFC chip. If your Android phone is NFC-enabled, then when in proximity, the chip will trigger your device to activate your Digital Key and successfully open the door if you have access permissions.
Review the table below to learn which specific firmware and versions support NFC technology-enabled openings.

Are NFC openings compatible with smartwatches?
NFC is also available for Wear OS smartwatches.
To enable this feature, download the Salto KS app on both your Wear OS watch and Android phone via the Google Play Store. You will be guided through setting up and activating the Digital Key on your watch. Once activated, you are ready to use Digital Key by placing your arm within short range of the lock for it to open instantly.
Why is the lock not opening when I present the phone with an NFC-enabled phone?
When performing NFC openings, the user only needs to unlock the phone and present it to the lock, the Salto KS Keychain app doesn't need to be open. In some cases, the lock may blink yellow for a brief second. If that is the case, move the phone away from the lock and present it again, as it may be the case that the lock didn't open due to connectivity problems. We do our best to ensure fast openings, nevertheless, in some cases, the communication between the lock and the phone is compromised because of building infrastructure or external conditions.
If problems with Digital Key persist, please refer to the Digital Key support FAQ.
