As an administrator in another domain, you'll be able to view its users and locks, as well as invite new users.

Introduction to the Dashboard

The Dashboard displays all users and locks in your domain, as well as how they're connected.

It shows which users have access to which locks, helping you manage permissions and keep everything well-organized.

Sorting

Just above the Dashboard, you'll find sorting options for both locks and users.

SortingAbove the Dashboard you will find the option to sort both the locks and users

You can sort users by name, email, or by when they were added—either from newest to oldest or the other way around.

Locks can also be sorted by name or by the date they were added.

In the sidebar in the left side, you will find filter options, search fields and navigation buttons.

SidebarThe sidebar includes different filter and search options to help you view only the information you need

If you are a owner or administrator of a domain with several users and locks connected, the filter options in the sidebar will help narrow the information and only display specific users or locks.

You will also be able to search for a specific user or lock, which will be helpful if you have a domain with a large number of users and locks connected.

If you only have a small number of users and one or two locks on your account, and just want to view the Dashboard, you can hide the sidebar by clicking the white arrow in the top-right corner of the sidebar.

Access types

Danalock offers three types of access:

  • Permanent access allows a user to unlock the door at any time, 24/7, until you remove their access
  • Temporary access gives full access to the lock, but only between specific start and end dates and times
  • Recurring access gives access at certain times on specific days—for example, every Monday and Wednesday between 9 AM and 5 PM

When you invite a user, you will have to choose which type of access, the user should have. If you wish to change the access type later, you can click on the access field outside the users email address on the dashboard.

Change accessYou can change the access type of a user by clicking on the access field

Modify locks

On your dashboard, you will only see Danalock V3 locks and Universal Modules connected to your Danalock account. Accessory devices - such as Danabridge or Danapad - are not visible or manageable via the web app. These devices can only be viewed and modified through the Danalock mobile app.

It is not possible to add new devices through the web app. All devices must be added via Bluetooth in the Danalock app.

If you wish to modify a Danalock V3 or Universal Module connected to your account, click the serial number or lock name in the top row of the Dashboard.

Only the owner or users with administrator rights can make changes to the device.

Clicking on the lock name or serial number will show the following information:

  • Lock name (editable)
  • Serial number
  • Device type
  • Time zone (editable)

You can rename the lock to make it clear which one it is - this is useful if you have several locks on your account or want to show which door it is installed on.

You will also be able to change the time zone. If you change the time zone, it will affect all access types with time limitations (temporary and recurring access).

If you have a Danabridge connected, changing the time zone will also change the time zone on the lock.

Modify lockYou will be able to change the name of your lock and set a new time zone

Add PIN codes remotely

If you have both a Danapad and a Danabridge paired with your Danalock, you can manage Pin codes remotely. You can either create a new PIN or edit an existing one.

To change or view an existing PIN, click the small black icon on the right side of the box. You can remove a PIN code on the red cross. The status indicates if the PIN is enabled or disabled.

When you click Create new, you'll have to enter a PIN code and give it a name. You'll also need to choose the access type—permanent, temporary, or recurring.

In this example, a recurring PIN is being created for a specific user. The code will only work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 9 AM and 5 PM.

The Danalock V3 can have 20 PIN codes stored. The PIN codes has to be 4 to 10 digits.

Danabridge paired

If you have a Danabridge paired with your Danalock V3, you will be able to see more information about the lock. You will be able to see the current battery state, which Firmware version the lock has and enable the End to End feature.

Danabridge pairedIf your lock is paired with a Danabridge, you’ll be able to see more details about it

If you have a Danabridge paired with your lock, you will also be able to see the current lock status. The menu bar will be either green (unlocked) or red (locked) depending on the status of the lock. If you don't have a Danabridge connected, the bar will appear grey.

Operate lock

If you click on Operate lock in the left side menu, you will be able to operate the lock remotely by clicking on unlock or lock

User access

You can add new users to a domain in two ways: By invitation or by creation.

Add userChoose between Invite or Create user in the menu bar

  • If you invite a user, they will receive an email with a link, they need to click on and accept the invitation to be able to see and operate the lock in the Danalock app.
  • If you create a user, you will have to set a password for the user and have to send the login details to the user.

Invite a user

To invite a guest, enter their email address and click Add. If you want to invite multiple users to the same lock, repeat the process and enter each email address and click Add again.

Next, choose which lock or locks the user should have access to, and select the access type. You can learn more about access types here

In the final step, you'll see the refresh interval setting. By default, this is set to 24 hours, which means the guest's digital key will need to refresh every 24 hours. Because the refresh process requires an internet connection, consider increasing the interval if the guest has limited or unstable internet access.

Invite userInsert the email address, choose lock and access type and click on invite

Once you have applied all the above information, click on invite. The user will then receive an email with a link. When they click on the link they will be able to accept the invitation.

An invited user will have their own domain, which means they can manage their own locks and also be invited to access locks in other domains, including yours.

Create a user

Creating a user follows the same steps as inviting one. After entering the required details and clicking create, the system will automatically generate a password for the new user.

You can view the generated password by clicking the eye icon.

If you've created multiple users at once, you can download their usernames and passwords as a CSV file to give a better overview.

Create userClick on the 'eye icon' and save the password or download the login information as a CSV file

If you wish to change the password, you will be able to do so by clicking on their username on the Dashboard and create a new password.

The created user will not be able to change the password themselves , only the owner or administrator in the domain will be able to change the password. The user will not receive any emails or information about the creation, you'll have to inform them about the username and password.

Modify a user

If you want to give or change a users alias or grant them a new role, you can click on their email address on the Dashboard.

The alias can help you identify the user.

If you change the users role from guest to administrator or installer, you can make them able to add or modify other users in your domain.

Modify userChange the users alias or role by clicking on the email address on the Dashboard

User roles

Within a domain, users can be assigned different roles that determine their permissions—such as modifying users and locks or adding new devices in the Danalock app.

Owner: The owner is the one whose domain the devices are added to. There can only be one owner of the domain.

Guest: A guest can be invited or created. If the user is invited, they will have their own Danalock account and can be invited to use locks in other domains as well. If the user is created, the owner of the lock creates an account for the guest and must provide the user with sign-in credentials.

Installer: An installer can be either invited or created. An invited installer will be able to lock/unlock and modify device name and time zone. A created installer will also be able to add devices to the domain in the Danalock app.

Administrator: A created administrator will have the same abilities as the owner of the domain. An invited administrator will be able to modify user and devices, invite/create users but will not be able to add devices in the Danalock app or set PIN codes remotely.

Below, you will be able to see the difference between the user roles.

User and lock groups

If you have multiple locks or users, you can divide them into user and lock groups to make it more manageable. By adding users to a group and assigning that group access to specific locks with set permissions, you avoid having to grant access to each user individually.

User access ranking

Since users can receive access either directly or through groups, overlapping permissions can lead to access conflicts. To handle this, there's a set order that decides which type of access counts the most:

  1. Direct access between a user and a lock always comes first. If a user is given access to a lock directly, this will always be the access that applies—no matter what groups the user or lock belongs to.
  2. Access between a user and a lock group comes next.
  3. Access through a user group and a lock is third.
  4. Access through both a user group and a lock group has the lowest priority.

Access conflicts only occur in domains with multiple user and lock groups. If you only manage a couple of users and locks, access conflicts will not affect your setup.

If a conflict occur, a warning message will appear when granting access to a user or user group for a lock or lock group.

Conflict accessYou will get a warning message if an access conflict occurs
