What is Salto KS Keychain?

With the absence of administrative tools, Salto KS Keychain is smaller than the Salto KS mobile app, ensuring quick downloads, minimal storage usage, and faster performance. Just like Salto KS, the Salto KS Keychain app is available for both iOS and Android and supports digital key functionality for Apple Watch and Wear OS smartwatches.

What is the main difference between Salto KS Keychain and the Salto KS mobile app?

The primary distinction between the Salto KS Keychain mobile app and the Salto KS mobile app is in their core functionalities. Salto KS Keychain is a lightweight app dedicated solely to unlocking, aimed at the simple and practical task of opening doors. Conversely, the Salto KS mobile app includes extensive management features, enabling you to oversee locks, events, users, and IQs.

What are the key features of Salto KS Keychain?

The Salto KS Keychain app offers the following key features:

How does digital key in Salto KS Keychain work?

The digital key in the Salto KS Keychain app works the same way as in the Salto KS app.

Digital Key on your smartphone: First make sure your Bluetooth is on. Next, tap on the digital key button or the widget. Now that the digital key is active, tap the back of your phone against the lock, and it will flash green with a sound to indicate that the door is successfully unlocked.

Digital Key on your smartwatch: Press the digital key button on the screen or tap the digital key complication, then tap your watch to a lock to unlock the door. You do not need your smartphone present.

Digital Key via NFC opening: Android users can benefit from NFC technology and only need to unlock their phone and tap it to lock it. They do not need to open their app or tap on any buttons.

Digital Key via Widget: To use the widget, swipe left to your widgets or home screen, press the single button that says Use digital key, and tap your phone to the lock.

How does digital key for guests in Salto KS Keychain work?

If a guest is invited by a Salto KS user to have access to their pod, a link will be generated for the user to share with the guest via their preferred channel (for instance, via email or message). By clicking the link, the guest will be redirected to the Salto KS Keychain app. If they do not yet have the app on their phone, they will instead be redirected to either the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

If this is the first time the guest is opening the KS Keychain app, they will be asked to provide a first and last name. This will prompt the invitation to be validated and their digital key to be retrieved. After that, they will be asked to provide a name to their digital key, which will lead to the activation of their mobile device and the download of their guest digital key on their app. If this is not the first time the guest is opening the KS Keychain app, they will skip the initial step and be taken directly to the screens where their digital key is retrieved. They will then only need to enter a name for their guest digital key before activating it.

What happens if I have a digital key as a user and a digital key as a guest?

For users that have a digital key as a user and a guest digital key, they can swap between them and use both on the Salto KS Keychain mobile app. In addition to logging in to the KS Keychain app via the invite link sent to them, a guest that is also a regular KS user can log in to their KS account via the Keychain app. This will generate and activate their regular digital key on their Keychain app, coexisting alongside their digital key as a guest.

By clicking the icon on the lower left side of their app screen, users can swap between Digital Key and Guest Key. Selecting Digital Key will display only the digital key they have as a Salto KS user. In turn, selecting Guest Key will switch the list to only display the digital key or keys they have from being invited as guests to a pod.

What happens if I have multiple digital keys as a guest?

When a guest is invited to a Salto KS pod and is first registering their digital key as a guest, they must give it a name before it gets activated on the Salto KS Keychain mobile app. This name will work as an identifier to the guest for that specific digital key. If a guest has multiple digital keys as a guest, they will appear stacked behind one another at the top of the app screen. Clicking the arrow pointing down will expand the list to display all their guest digital keys, which will be identifiable by their given name. The guest can then select which one they want to use by clicking on the desired digital key, which will then automatically activate that key to be used. If they wish to delete one of the digital keys from the list, they can just swipe it to the side and delete it.

How can I add the Salto KS Keychain Widget on my phone?

The Salto KS Keychain digital key Widget for iOS

There are two ways to add the widget on your iOS device. The first option is to add a widget to your 'Today View' screen that lists your widgets. Unlock your phone and swipe right to your 'Today View' screen and scroll down to the end where you will see an Edit button. Once you click on it, you will be able to add the Salto KS Keychain digital key Widget.

The second method is to press and hold a blank spot on your home screen upon which you will see a + sign button in the top left corner of the screen. Click here, search for the Salto KS Keychain Widget and then select the widget of your choice. You can then drag and drop the widget wherever you desire.

The Salto KS Keychain digital key Widget for Android

Android users must first unlock their phones and navigate to their home screens to add the widget. Now, press and hold a blank spot until a pop-up menu appears where you can select the widget tab. To add the widget of your choice, in this case, Salto KS Keychain digital key, tap on the widget and hold it. You can now drag and drop the widget among your apps.
