I'm an installer having problems commissioning an Orion Device
The checks in this troubleshooting guide are for system administrators and operators using Space as the access control system.
Is the Orion Device already commissioned in the Orion Console?
In the Orion Console, head to the Orion Devices tab and check if the door you are trying to commission to is already there.
If it is, you may need to Delete the Orion Device currently commissioned to that door. After doing so, retry commissioning.
Is the door correctly configured in Space?
Ensure that the door you are commissioning to has a name that matches in the Doors configuration of Space and the Orion Devices tab of the Orion Console.
Does the health check QR code show success?
Use the Test Code in the Orion Devices tab of the Orion Console in front of the Camera Unit to check if the Orion Device is healthy and configured.
If the response from the Camera Unit is anything except green LEDs, replace the blue cable between the Camera Unit and the Control Unit.
If the Test Code still gets a red LED response from the Camera Unit, check your network configuration.
If the network configuration is correct and you can see the Orion Device alive on the network, report the problem to Salto.
Is the Orion Server online and well?
Check that the Orion Server and the access control system are both online
Go to the Orion Console and find the server status area which includes connectivity with the ACS. For recognition at the door to work, the Access Control System status must be green, and the Connection Status must be CONNECTED.
If either of these systems are disconnected, check the settings for their network and that they are powered on.
- On the Orion Server, run the following commands to
ping
the Space server.sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y iputils-ping
ping <Space-server-ip>
- On the Space server, run the following command to ping the Orion server.
ping <Orion-server-ip>
ping
tests the availability and response time of the target server.- If the response is a list of response times, such as below, then the other server is reachable.
64 bytes from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: icmp_seq=2788 ttl=128 time=0.621 ms
- If the response is instead rejection, such as:
Destination Net Unreachable
, then the other server couldn't be reached. In this case, check the server's firewall, IP and network settings.
- If the response is a list of response times, such as below, then the other server is reachable.
If the network is correctly configured and the Orion Server is on, but disconnected, try the following:
- Use the Resync script to reconnect the Orion Server to the site.
What should I do if the problem persists?
If all other steps have been tried and the issue remains undiagnosed, get in touch with your regular Salto technical support contact.
