iOS shortcuts
If you're using an iOS device, you can add Danalock shortcuts to your Home Screen or a Danalock widget to your widget area. You can also create automations that unlock your Danalock automatically when you arrive home.
Shortcuts and widgets give you access to operate your lock without opening the Danalock app.
Danalock shortcuts
When setting up a shortcut, you can choose which specific Danalock you want to operate (if you have multiple Danalocks). You can also decide whether you want to be asked each time which operation to run when you press the shortcut icon, or if you want the shortcut to perform a fixed action (lock or unlock).
You can further specify which connection method the shortcut should use. This setting is only relevant if a Danabridge is paired with your Danalock V3. If your lock is connected to a Danabridge, you can choose whether the shortcut should use Bluetooth or the Danabridge connection.
If you choose the Danabridge as the connection method, you'll be able to use the shortcut even when you're not within Bluetooth range of the lock.
In the sections below, you can find step-by-step guides on how to add an Ask Each Time shortcut and a fixed shortcut.
How to create a Danalock shortcut (Ask Each Time)
- To create a Danalock shortcut, press on the Shortcut icon on your home screen.
Press the 'Shortcut' icon to create a new shortcut
- In the Shortcuts menu, find the Danalock app in the list of Shortcut apps.
Find the 'Danalock app' on the apps list
- On the Danalock page, you'll see two boxes showing the two supported actions (operating a lock or getting the current lock status of a lock). Press the three dots in the upper-right corner of the Operate a lock with Danalock box and choose New Shortcut.
Press the 'Shortcut' icon to create a new shortcut
- When adding a new shortcut, you can start by renaming it to make it unique. You can do this by pressing the small arrow in the upper menu bar.
Press the small arrow in the menu bar to edit the shortcut
- Once you've renamed the shortcut, you can define the operation it should run. If you don't want the shortcut to perform a fixed action, choose Ask Each Time.
Choose the type of operation the shortcut should run
- After setting the operation, press Medium. If you have a Danabridge paired with your lock, you can choose whether the shortcut should use the Danabridge or Bluetooth connection to operate the lock. You can also choose Ask Each Time if you want the shortcut to prompt you for the connection method each time it runs.
Choose whether the shortcut should run the operation via the bridge, Bluetooth, or Ask Each Time
In the final step, you can disable Show when run. The Show When Run setting determines if the shortcut's actions are shown on screen. When enabled (default), a popup displays the shortcut's progress.
Once you've chosen the Operation and Medium, you can add the shortcut to your Home Screen so it's accessible without opening Shortcuts. To add it, either press the small arrow in the upper menu bar or the square-with-arrow icon in the bottom menu, then press Add to Home Screen.
Press either the arrow in the top menu bar or the square-with-arrow icon in the bottom menu to find the 'Add to Home Screen' option
- When you press Add to Home Screen, you can customize the shortcut by adding a photo, choosing a symbol, or changing its color to make it identifiable. After editing the shortcut icon, press Add.
Customize the shortcut icon, then press Add
- To operate the lock you can now go to your Home screen and find your shortcuts icon. When you press the icon, you will get asked if you want to Lock or Unlock the lock. Once you choose the desired operation, the lock will either lock or unlock.
If you've set the Medium to Ask Each Time to choose between Bluetooth and the Danabridge, you'll be asked to choose the connection before choosing the operation.
Operate the lock by pressing the shortcut icon
How to create a Danalock shortcut (fixed action)
If you don't want to choose the operation every time you use the shortcut, you can create a fixed-action shortcut.
- To add a shortcut with fixed action, follow the guide above. Instead of choosing Ask Each Time, select either Lock or Unlock.
Choose 'Unlock' or 'Lock' when creating the shortcut to set up a fixed-action shortcut
Once you've added the shortcut, press its icon on the Home Screen to run the operation.
If you create both a Lock and an Unlock shortcut, press the one you want to run the selected action.
Press the 'Unlock' or 'Lock' shortcut to execute the operation
Add the shortcut as a Widget
Once you've created your shortcuts, you can add them as a widget to your Home Screen or widget area. This is helpful if you've created several shortcuts, as the widget can display multiple shortcuts together in one view, providing a better overview.
To add a new widget, press and hold an empty area on the Home Screen until the icons start to jiggle.
Choose New Widget from the menu that appears in the upper-left corner of the screen.
Choose 'New Widget' to add a widget to your widget area or Home screen
- Search for Shortcuts in the search field and press the app icon.
Use the search field to find the 'Shortcuts' app
- After choosing the Shortcuts app from the widget list, you'll be asked to choose a widget size. Choose between a small, medium, or large widget by swiping, depending on the number of shortcuts you'd like to include.
Swipe to switch between widget sizes
- Once you've chosen the size, press Add Widget. The widget will then appear on your Home Screen or in your widget area, where you can drag it to your preferred location.
Drag the widget to where you want it displayed
How to create an automation
In the iOS Shortcuts app, you can also create automations that run under specific conditions. An automation can, for example, unlock your Danalock automatically when you arrive home.
To create an automation:
- Go to Shortcuts > Danalock and press Automation in the bottom menu.
Press 'Automation' in the bottom menu to create a new automation
- Press the plus icon in the upper-right corner to add the automation.
Select the 'plus' in the top-right corner to add the new automation
- Choose the trigger for the automation. For example, if you want your phone to unlock the door automatically when you arrive home, choose Arrive.
Choose which event should trigger the automation
- On the next page, set the conditions for when the automation should run. Since this example uses Arrive, enter the location connected to the automation and press Done. If you are at the location when creating the automation, choose Current Location.
Enter the location where the automation should run when you arrive
- Decide whether the automation should run Anytime or within a specific Time range. If you choose Time range, set the Start and End times to decide when the automation should trigger when you arrive.
Note that you can only choose a time window, not specific dates or days of the week.
You can also choose whether the automation should ask for confirmation before running or run automatically.
Choose if the automation should be time-limited and whether you want to confirm it before it runs
Once you've set these options, press Next.
The automation will now appear in the overview, but it will remain blank until you add an action. Press the Automation to add an action.
Press the blank automation box to add an action.
- Search for the Danalock app and choose Operate a Danalock.
Search for the 'Danalock app' and press 'Operate a Danalock'
- Choose the lock, operation, and medium (as when creating a shortcut), then press Done.
Choose the lock, choose whether it should lock or unlock, and then choose the medium
- Once you've added the action, it will appear on the automations page, and the automation will be active.
When you have chosen an action, the automation is ready for use
You can add more than one lock to the same automation. To do this, go to Automations, select the automation, press Operate a Danalock, and repeat the steps above to add another lock.
If you want to edit the automation, just press it. To delete it, swipe it to the right.
How to run the shortcut with Siri
Once you've set up the Shortcuts for your Danalock, you can use Siri to run them. The name of the shortcut is important. If you name it Unlock front door office then that is what you will need to say:
Hey Siri, unlock front door office.
You can do this while your phone is locked.
