Firmware Updates

Description

From this section, you can view the firmware version of the XS4 Sense controllers and perform firmware updates.

This section provides access to the current firmware version installed on each controller and allows authorized users to initiate the firmware update process. Before starting the update, ensure that the controller is powered and connected to the network.

Before starting the firmware upgrade, verify that the controller has a stable Wi-Fi connection with a signal strength of at least -85 dB (RSSI). A weaker signal may cause interruptions during the update process and result in an incomplete or corrupted firmware installation.

Step-by-step instruction

Getting firmware

To obtain the firmware package, please contact Salto Technical Support or the authorized partner who performed the activation of your XS4 Sense system.

Firmware Directory

To update the controller firmware, you must obtain the firmware file with the *.mfw extension. Once obtained, save the file in the following directory on the XS4 Sense Server: C:\SALTO\XS4 Sense\Server\uploads\fw

Firmware Selection

After saving the firmware file in the specified folder, it will become available for installation through the cloud. By clicking the Select Firmware File button, the newly added file will appear in the list of available firmware versions within the Update Firmware section

Select the desired firmware from the list of available firmware files stored in the local directory and click Confirm selected file.

Update command

Once the firmware package has been selected, it will be loaded and made available for deployment. Next, select the controllers you wish to update from the list of connected devices.

The Update Firmware button will remain disabled until at least one controller is selected, preventing accidental execution of the update process without a defined target. After selecting one or more controllers, the button will become active, allowing you to start the firmware update procedure.

Select the target controllers and click the Upgrade Firmware button to start the update process. The task will be scheduled, and the upgrade command will be sent to the selected XS4 Sense controllers. If the commissioned task does not complete within 30 minutes, it will be automatically marked Failed.

Firmware update schedule log

By clicking the Scheduled Log button, you enter the section dedicated to viewing the executed update tasks. From this area, you can check the status of each task and monitor its progress in real time. It is not possible to interrupt an ongoing firmware update once it has started.

Through the Log panel, it is possible to monitor the status and progress of all firmware update tasks that have been initiated. All information can be filtered using the available search and filter fields.

Status description

StatusDescription
ScheduledThe update task has been created and queued but not yet executed.
UpdatingThe firmware update process is currently in progress.
CompletedThe firmware update has been successfully completed.
FailedThe update task did not complete successfully due to an error or interruption.

During the firmware update process, do not power off, reboot, or disconnect XS4 Sense controller from the Wi-Fi network. Any interruption may result in an incomplete or corrupted installation. It is strongly recommended to perform the update when the room is unoccupied to avoid service interruptions and ensure a safe and stable upgrade procedure.
