FAQs about installer access
What do I need to start commissioning XS4 Com iGO as an installer?
Before beginning the commissioning process for XS4 Com, ensure you have the following:
- Email: for completing your profile setup if you're new to Salto KS or XS4 Com.
- Building and site details: address, site type, and contact information.
- QR Plate: provided by the business unit.
Permissions in Larry Support: Verify that your company and user profile are registered with the necessary tenant access. You will receive an email confirmation once the business unit has granted these permissions.
Access control platform selection: Know whether the site will use Salto KS or Homelok, as each has distinct setup requirements.
With these ready, proceed to set up your XS4 Com site by following the steps outlined in the below FAQs or User Guides.
How is XS4 Com iGO installer access managed?
XS4 Com installer access is managed by Salto business units. Here's what they do:
- Navigate to the Installer companies tab in Larry Support to view partnered companies.
- Select the relevant company associated with the installer.
- Go to the Installers tab within the selected company profile.
- Locate the specific installer and use the three-dot actions menu to reveal the option for XS4 Com installer access.
- Select the tenant for which the installer requires access via a pop-up window. If the company is not registered, the Salto business unit must create it in Larry Support first.
- Once assigned, a confirmation message will appear, or an alert will confirm if they already have access.
For Salto KS, how does the commissioning process differ for non-released vs released sites?
The commissioning process for XS4 Com varies depending on whether the Salto KS site is in non-released or released mode:
Commissioning XS4 Com on a non-released Salto KS site:
- If the Release site button has not been clicked, the site remains in installation mode.
- The installer can proceed with the commissioning process, with access to Salto KS locks and configurations.
- Subscription restrictions do not apply in this mode and will only take effect once the site is released.
Commissioning XS4 Com on a released Salto KS site:
- Verify Salto KS pro subscription: The site owner should confirm that the site has an active Salto KS Pro subscription, which enables XS4 Com integration.
- Enable integration: The site owner should go to the integration settings on the KS web application and activate XS4 Com.
- Generate and share access code: In the KS web application, the site owner generates a customer id and access code and shares them with the installer outside (via email or other means).
- Redeem the code in Larry Commissioning: The installer redeems the shared code in Larry Commissioning, thereby becoming part of the released KS site.
By becoming part of the released KS site, the installer can view the site and its locks when configuring entrances in XS4 Com.
What prerequisites are required for commissioning XS4 Com iGO on a Homelok site?
To commission XS4 Com on a Homelok site, please ensure the following steps are completed. Homelok sites are commissioned outside of the Larry Commissioning platform:
- Site creation: The Homelok site must be fully set up and created before commissioning can proceed. This includes ensuring all necessary devices like electronic locks, controllers, gateways, and encoders are up and running. The process for site creation is managed using the Homelok web application.
- Create API user: Within the Homelok web application, an API user must be created and added to the site with the Property manager role. This user should have a defined and unique email address containing the ID necessary for the integration with XS4 Com.
- Property manager assignment: The installer responsible for commissioning XS4 Com needs to be assigned as a Property manager on the Homelok site. It's essential for them to use the same email address defined in Step 2 when logging into the XS4 Com application. If the same email is not used, they will not be able to proceed with the commissioning process.
What are the step-by-step instructions for an installer to configure a new XS4 Com iGO site?
Step 1: Create a new site
If you're new to Salto KS or XS4 Com, you'll receive an email to complete profile setup. You'll receive an email confirming you've been granted access to the site by the business unit on Larry Support.
Log in to XS4 Com, using the link found in the email you received from the business unit.
On the Manage Sites page, click on the Create New button located at the top right of the screen.
A form titled Create a New Site will appear. Enter the required site details, including the site name, type (residential or company), and address. Time zone will be auto populated based on the address.
Site type-specific configuration:
- If you select Residential: You'll be prompted to create units and floors for the site.
- If you select Company: You'll be prompted to create a company profile for the site.
- Click on Save & Continue to proceed, or you may stop here and configure entrances later if preferred.
Step 2: Configure entrances
After saving the site details, you will be automatically prompted to configure at least one entrance due to subscription-related requirements. However, this step can also be postponed, allowing you to create entrances later.
In the Add Entrance popup window, select the appropriate Access Control Integration (Salto KS or Homelok) from the first dropdown. Then, use the second dropdown in the same window to select the site name for easy identification. Note that Homelok will only display released sites, whereas Salto KS displays both released and unreleased sites. Once selected, click Save & Continue to proceed.
In the next window, you will be prompted to:
- Select the lock from the list of locks associated with that site.
- Enter the Unique Intercom Code, either manually or by scanning it.
- Name the entrance by entering the desired entrance name.
- Optionally, Enable Geofencing and set the desired radius.
After configuring these details, you have the option to add more entrances by clicking on Add Another Entrance.
Once all entrances are configured, click Save & Continue to proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Add a site owner
After configuring entrances, the system will prompt you to invite the site owner.
In the Invite the Site Owner popup window, enter the site owner's first name, last name, and email address.
Click Send Invite to send an invitation email to the site owner. The site owner will need to accept the invitation and complete their profile (if they're new to Salto KS or XS4 Com) to manage the site.
Note: The site setup is not considered fully complete until the site owner accepts the terms of service (ToS). Once the ToS is accepted, the installer will be removed from the site, and the site will be marked as released.
Who is a site owner in XS4 Com iGO?
A site owner is the designated individual responsible for accepting the terms of service (ToS) in XS4 Com, a mandatory step to ensure compliance with Salto's policies. This role grants them the same permissions and rights as a site admin, including full access to manage and configure site settings.
Only one site owner can be assigned per site. However, the site owner can add multiple site admins to assist with site management. If needed, the site owner can also replace themselves with another user to assume the site owner role.
Can an installer add a Site Owner after the site has already been created?
Yes, you can add a site owner at any time after the site has been created, as long as the original site owner has not yet accepted the terms of service (ToS). Here's how:
- Navigate to the Manage Sites page in XS4 Com web application.
- Locate the site where you want to add a site owner.
- Click on the three dots in the action column next to the site's name on the right-hand side.
- Select Invite Site Owner from the dropdown menu.
- In the invite the site owner popup window, enter the site owner's first name, last name, and email address.
- Click Send Invite to send the invitation email. The site owner will need to accept the invitation and complete their profile (if they're new to Salto KS or XS4 Com) to gain access to manage the site.
Note: Once the original site owner accepts the ToS and the site is released, the installer will be removed from the site and will no longer have the option to invite a new site owner. After this, the site owner can initiate the Transfer Ownership process from the Site Overview page if necessary.
How does an installer add entrances to a site after it has been created?
Entrances can be added after the site has been created, but the installer must have access to the relevant KS or Homelok site. Here's how:
- Go to Manage Sites and locate the site, then select Add Entrance.
- If some entrances have already been created for the site, there's no need to specify the Access Control Integration (Salto KS or Homelok).
- Set up each entrance by selecting the lock, entering the intercom code, and naming the entrance.
- Enable geofencing if desired to restrict access within a specific range.
- Click Save & Continue to finalize each entrance configuration.
How is OTP disabled for IQs associated with XS4 Com iGO entrances?
For both non-released and released KS sites, the Salto business unit should disable the one-time password (OTP) for any IQ associated with XS4 Com entrances. This can be done on the Larry Support web application by navigating to the IQ tab, selecting the specific iq, and choosing the option to Disable OTP.
What are XS4 Com iGO plates?
iGO is the QR code-based component of XS4 Com, represented by plates that facilitate easy communication between resident and visitors. iGO stickers enable visitors to use their smartphones to instantly gain access to the phonebook, with which they can initiate a videocall with the resident, who then has the option to remotely grant access if they have an integrated Salto access control system.
How are XS4 Com iGO plates tailored to different environments and installation needs?
XS4 Com plates are designed for outdoor resilience and ease of use. The plates are available in three forms:
- The polycarbonate plate measuring 10.16 × 15.24 mm with QR, NFC and Braille, is protected by vandal-resistant 3M film.
- For metal surfaces, plates have a ferrite layer to activate NFC, are 60 × 110mm and have a 3M glue backing designed for durability.
- For glass surfaces, the stickers are 50 × 110 mm with a 3M glue front, ensuring clear visibility without NFC.
Available in black, they support multiple languages to cater to a wide user base.
After an installer enrolls a site admin, how does the site admin receive access to XS4 Com iGO?
Once enrolled, the Site Admin will receive the following emails:
- Profile completion email: If the site admin is new to Salto KS or XS4 Com, they will first receive an email prompting them to complete their profile setup.
- Site invitation email: After the profile is set up (or instantly if they already have access to Salto KS or XS4 Com), they will receive a site invitation email containing:
- A login link to access the XS4 Com.
- Links to download the XS4 Com app from both app stores.
Do I need to integrate XS4 Com iGO with a current Salto KS or Homelok site?
Yes, integration is required to get the full experience with XS4 Com. By connecting it to at least one entrance—like through Salto KS or Homelok - you'll ensure everything, including the phonebook, works. Without this setup, XS4 Com won't function.
Can an installer add multiple entrances and configure geofencing on an XS4 Com site?
Yes, after the initial setup, installers can add additional entrances by selecting Add Entrance on the Manage Sites page. Each entrance allows for an optional geofencing radius to restrict visitor access within a specified range, offering customized security for each site.
How can an installer update their phone number?
To update your phone number, you can use either the XS4 Com platform, Larry Commissioning, or any other product platform you have access to. Here's how to do it via the XS4 Com platform:
- Log into your dashboard.
- Click on your profile at the top of the page.
- Choose View Profile to open your details.
- Next to your current phone number, select Change.
- Enter your new phone number.
- Click Save to confirm the changes.
What happens if the XS4 Com subscription expires?
When an XS4 Com subscription expires, the system's functionalities will no longer work. Visitors will not have access to the phonebook, and residents will lose the ability to remotely grant access.
How can I verify that I've completed all steps to set up XS4 Com?
- Received appropriate emails and logged into XS4 Com.
- Verified that the site has the correct subscription level applied.
- Entered building information (address, type).
- Selected Salto KS or Homelok as the access control platform.
