Device commissioning

The commissioning guide below assumes that the Orion Device is already installed on site and now needs pairing with an Orion Server.

Once an Orion Device is flashing yellow, it is ready to be commissioned to an Orion Server.

Prerequisites

For these next steps, please ensure:

• The Orion Device is powered on and flashing yellow.
• The Orion Device is on the same network as the Orion Server.
• The Orion Server is online and showing as green in the Orion Console.
• The Orion Server is connected to the ACS.

Step-by-step

The Admin Operator receives a welcome email when the Salto partner provides access to their site within the Orion Console. The email contains a link to the correct console for their region.

1. Log in to the Orion Console for the correct region.
2. Select the site from the drop-down menu in the left-hand pane.
3. Select the Devices button in the left-hand pane.
4. In the upper-right hand corner, select Add Orion Device. A modal pops up titled Add Orion Device.
5. If the site has multiple servers, select the server to commission the Orion Device to by selecting from the drop-down.
6. If this Orion Device is being commissioned to the same door as another Orion Device (such as when controlling entry and exit of this door), check the Include paired checkbox.
7. In the drop-down Select a Door, select the door as named in the ACS.

8. Select pair.

9. Show the QR code that appears to the Orion Device that is installed at this door. Watch for the following behavior on the Orion Device:

   • The LEDs on the Orion Device briefly flash blue, then flash green.
   • The LEDs turn off while the Orion Device restarts.
   • The LEDs flash blue briefly while it initializes.
   • The LEDs turn white and stay static.

   In the Orion Console, check that the Status of the Orion Device that has just been commissioned has changed from commissioning to Ready.

10. Repeat from step 5 for each Orion Device that requires commissioning.
