First-time setup
Set Salto IDM admin password
- Perform the first login attempt to the application with the following credentials:
Username: Admin
Password: Pass@Word!
You will be asked to provide a new password and then click on "Reset password".
- The password must be compliant with the requirements.
You should now be able to log in with your Admin username and the newly created password.
When you log in with the Salto IDM account you will have elevated permissions.
- Be sure to store the new password.
- This account should never be used by other users.
- Use this account only to configure the application features (explained below).
- Always create new accounts for admins (explained below).
- Never delete this account.
IMPORTANT: Change the email of the Salto IDM Admin account.
- This step is necessary to be able to recover/reset your password in case that it gets lost or forgotten (see troubleshooting).
- Once logged in, go to "Administration", and then click on "Users".
- You will see the Salto IDM Admin account.
- Click on the "Edit" button.
- Update the email field to an email that you can access.
- Click on "Save".
Configure application features
The Licensing menu allows you to switch certain Salto IDM features on or off. By default, only the application license of your current license tier is visible and enabled. To configure them to meet your preferences, sign in as the Salto IDM Admin, go to the "Administration" menu, click on "Settings", and open the "Licensing" menu.
This menu is not visible to any other user, only to the Salto IDM admin user.
On the "Licensing" page you will be able to see your current licensing tier.
By expanding the available license tiers, you will see the application features that you can turn off or on. Use the toggles on each module to configure the application with the features you require. It is always recommended to disable features that are not needed.
Create administrator account
To create an Administrator account (other than the Salto IDM Admin) go to "Administration", and then click on "Users". Here you will see a list of all the application users that have access to Salto IDM.
Click Create user.
Fill out all the general information of the user.
Choose whether to send an email invite to the user or to set up the credentials yourself.
If the "Send invite to user" option is used, the user will receive an email invitation.
If you prefer to set the username and password yourself, generate a safe password and share the credentials with the user in a secure manner.
Use the "Grant rights" tab to choose the role and rights of the user (for example, Administrator). Click "Save" to create the user account, and then the new admin will be able to log in.
